Murphy, Bantz & Bury, Past and Present

Patrick Henry Murphy was a Canadian but his father had lived in the U.S. initially. The love he felt for his adopted country is shown by his naming of his son after the patriot Patrick Henry. He grew up in Vernon, B.C. and was a horse trainer, hockey player, and high school dropout. He was signed by the Vancouver professional hockey team when Gonzaga University recruited him on a hockey scholarship. He majored in Philosophy and warned a law degree. In 1946 he put out his shingle and began doing real estate closings in the post war boom for $16.00 each.

From that humble beginning, real estate and general practice firm was create. William Bantz (“Big Bill Bantz”) partnered with Murphy, and was appointed by Eisenhower as Federal District Attorney.

John F. Bury joined the firm in 1974 and began a business, real estate and bankruptcy practice that continues today.

Steven Schneider joined the firm in 1989, emphasizing real property law, contract litigation, business bankruptcies, and mediation. He is currently the Managing Member of the firm.

Timothy R. Fischer former clerk for Bankruptcy Judge Patricia Williams has established an aggressive practice in bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation.

In 2012, Dennis P. Hession and Susan G. Amstadter joined the firm. Mr. Hession emphasizes in business litigation, tax, estate planning and mediation. He is a former Mayor and City Council President as well as President of the Spokane Park Board, and CEO of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture.

Susan G. Amstadter formerly of the Washington D.C. and Chicago area. While emphasizing in business, estates, and real estate, Susan also works with landlords to provide quick and efficient evictions.
